Water treatment is extracting from water the suspended and colloidal impurities and salts contained in it, which prevents the formation of scale, salt carry-over by steam, corrosion of metals, as well as contamination of the processed materials when using water in industrial processes.

Water treatment includes the following main processing methods:

  • water clarification (removal of coagulants, sedimentation and filtration of colloidal contaminants and suspension);
  • water softening (removal of hardness by precipitation of calcium and magnesium with the help of lime and soda or removing them from water by cation exchange);
  • biological treatment of water from bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms;
  • improving the organoleptic properties of water (removal of substances causing odor (hydrogen sulfide, chlorine) and a number of organic substances).
